Guild Wars – There Goes The Neighbourhood
I took Guise through to Post-Searing in Guild Wars, joining a Warrior/Monk to go through the Academy missions where we brutalised the other team and barely broke a sweat, granted I let the W/M get all mobbed up while I took long shots at the enemies while hitting several at a time with my Deathly Swarm.
Post-Searing is a complete wasteland, but not devoid of features and it is these features that add the emotional appeal of Guild Wars, everywhere you walk in the Ascalon area you can see the remains of areas you knew to be green and pleasant, ornately decorated or even just populated. The rivers that flowed gracefully through the lands have evaporated, houses have been razed to the ground and underfoot is cracked and dusty where there was once fresh pasture. Even the mountainside is dried out, seemingly the only area where any grass might still grow.
Several old friends, mentors and allies have turned against their nation, their hearts as scarred as the land. Guise has taken to travelling in a mob, the back-up is very often needed.
Oh, to see something of beauty again in this scorched ruination.
