Emerald Passion Is Quite Eggs-quisite

17 March, 2008 (23:18) | Easter, Seasonal | By: Guise Dugal

True story: Today in WHSmiths I overheard a young mother telling her daughter “Be good or the Easter Bunny won’t come.” Now, there are two things that I disagree with the mother about that:

  1. The Easter Bunny is not Santa, the Easter Bunny isn’t rewarding children as much as reproducing on a seasonal basis,
  2. The Easter Bunny will pretty much cum for anything or anyone, it’s a bloody rabbit symbolising new life and shagging senselessly.

Before I truly start, I think I should explain the chocolate brand known as Aero to those of you not familiar.

The Aero is a chocolate bar made by the Nestle company and has been around since the 1930s. It was launched, and later redrawn, in the US in the 1980s. The main selling point of the Aero is that it contains bubbles of air inside the bar – air bubbles are run through the chocolate with a vacuum as it cools, resulting in evenly distributed bubbles throughout the bar and a honeycomb-like texture. The Aero has come in various types over the years, from flavours such as Peppermint, Orange, White Chocolate, Cappuccino and Caramel, to textured Cruncy bars, mousses and ice cream. The most recent additions are the Aero Bubbles, which are small ball-shaped Aeros sold in a bag.

In 1996 possibly the greatest rip-off existed, and by greatest I mean it was so amazing a product that we didn’t really care if we were being ripped off by it. For the same price, or sometimes slightly more, as a small Peppermint Aero bar you could get a Peppermint Aero Egg, with less Aero!

Unfortunately, this is where the great idea of this post falls flat on its face, because after trying to get an Aero egg this year, it seems they have completely vanished. I’ve even emailled Nestle to find out what happened to it. I specifically wanted the Aero egg for this day too!

Why a specific egg on this specific day? Here’s why:

Yes, the egg was a Peppermint Aero, with brown milk chocolate outer layer and green mint-flavoured chocolate filling. What we have these days (all year through) are the Peppermint Aero Bubbles, which are hardly the same, but beggars can’t be choosers (well, theoretically they can, but it wouldn’t help them much).

The first thing that you notice on opening the bag of Bubbles is the aroma, a rich blend of chocolate and peppermint that is a joy to the nostrils. The Bubbles themselves are about the size of a Malteser, which I believe is roughly comparable to a Hershey Whopper (about 6.5cm circumference). The outside shell is split in to two hemispheres, a green one representing the peppermint and a brown representing chocolate. The inside is simply brown.I tested and I strongly believe that only the green outer shell has any peppermint flavouring, and that the rest is just ordinary milk chocolate – I even went so far as scooping the inside out and trying, and only got a hint of peppermint.Taste wise, there isn’t much difference between this and the egg, if you were just going to chomp through though.

The egg had one thing definately going for it that the Bubbles don’t, and that is that you could grate the egg perfectly for mixing with hot chocolate.

But, how did the egg come about and why choose this specific day to discuss it?

Well, it’s all down to the green you see. How can you look at that chocolate egg and not wonder what made the green inside?

well, I happen to know what happened and it’s rather a touching, warm story of love, romance and most likely great quantities of alcohol. (Read More Here)

Guise, you have risen to new heights and sunk to new lows. I am shamefully speechless.

One question: how do you hide those ears during job interviews?

FM, two words: stovepipe hat. Do you think anyone would have hired Lincoln if he’d shown his antennae?

Tay, the Easter Bunny and his descendents love me. I get them laid, before they lay.

Dio, I violated you…well, your copyright, but as soon as I saw that video something just screamed a remix at me. Black and white tiles, mirrored surface, red apple… XD

So, how long until you create Old Man Stubbyfingers, Squirpions and Easter Bunny/Leprechaun smut in Maya for us? ~.^

  4. Dio says:

Wow, that was….interesting. XD I resisted music this round cuz its not polished yet (no shadows, the flask is far too shiny for brushed chrome, etc), but once I get some free time, I’ll mess w/ it. I have to animate a ball bounce next. O_O

Yo dood. I LOVE AERO. Do you know how hard it is to FIND Aero choccies here in the States? The closest place I know of is 1.5 hours away in a little import store on the Wharf! *sobs*
    Torture.

  6. Guise Dugal says:

    Aww, Kitty, Aero is plentiful in this little land, our cup runneth over! Looks like my little “emergency care package plan” might need to be a little bigger after it starts. ^^;;;

  7. Dio says:

I have to get my Canadian friends t send me Aero. T_T Good thing I have friends up there, or I’d be hopping that border ALL the time.
